Job summary

North Northamptonshire Council is recruiting an Electrician to join the Housing Property Services team. The role covers maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to council housing and corporate properties, with duties spanning planned, routine, and emergency electrical work.

You will work under the Repairs Officer, perform inspections, complete certification, and support service excellence while upholding health and safety standards. A full driving licence and on-call commitment are required.

Qualifications

• City and Guilds qualifications as listed are required or equivalent.
• Willing to undertake CAT B asbestos training.
• Experience in electrical inspection and testing and related regulatory changes.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance and repair works per works order specification.
• Undertake electrical installation and maintenance tasks within the allocated area, in line with RAMS/SSOW.
• Complete reports/certification and order materials or request follow-on work on mobile devices.
• Work independently or as part of a team on responsive maintenance, routine servicing, testing and inspection, planned installation and remedial work, and void works.
• Complete works orders regarding schedule of rates; comply with vehicle maintenance and paperwork; adhere to asbestos responsibilities.
• Attend team briefings and training; follow safe working practices and Health & Safety policy; maintain PPE and tools.
• Participate in out-of-hours call out when required; hold a valid driving licence.
