Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within SLAM for an Electrician to join our Estates team at the Bethlem Royal Hospital. The Trust manages four main sites and community properties. Applicants should be able to organize their work, parts, and materials, and perform tasks safely and tidily. Flexibility for extra hours and altered work patterns may be required to ensure service continuity. The ideal candidate will have a good general knowledge of domestic and commercial building services.

Responsibilities

1. Perform maintenance, reactive repairs, compliance monitoring, and remedial work at Bethlem Royal Hospital and community properties.
2. Ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with relevant standards.
3. Conduct statutory checks in line with the Approved Code of Practice, Building Regulations, HBN, and HTM.
4. Work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating knowledge of building structures, fabric, fire compartmentalization, and fire door maintenance.
5. Organize work, parts, and materials effectively.

Requirements

• Good general knowledge of domestic and commercial building services.
• Ability to work on own initiative and within a team.
• Physical fitness and enthusiasm for the role.
• Willingness to undertake training to stay current with relevant standards.

Location

The Bethlem Royal Hospital is located in Croydon, less than 10 minutes from the train station, with a bus stop outside the main gates. Services are also provided across London boroughs and other locations.
