Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an Electrician for social housing projects across the South of England. This permanent role offers a salary around £43,000 plus a van and fuel card, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality workmanship.

You will carry out inspections, rewires, emergency responses, and maintain documentation while coordinating with supervisors and tenants. A full UK driving licence and DBS check are required to start.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation is essential.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Testing and Inspection preferred.
  • 18th Edition regulations knowledge required; 17th desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical testing, inspections, reactive repairs and fault finding.
  • Execute full domestic rewires, kitchen/bathroom installations.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults quickly and respond to emergencies.
  • Complete tasks cost-effectively while maintaining open communication with Supervisors and Resource Controllers.
  • Adhere to RAMS, PPE, and safety rules at all times.
  • Keep accurate records and ensure tools and equipment are maintained.

Key Responsibilities


  • Inspections & Repairs: Carry out electrical testing, inspections, reactive repairs, and fault finding.


  • Installations & Rewires: Execute full domestic electrical rewires, kitchen/bathroom installations, and domestic heating system installations.


  • Emergency Response: Diagnose and rectify electrical faults swiftly, responding efficiently to emergency situations.


  • Workplace Efficiency: Complete tasks cost‑effectively, minimizing non‑productive time, and maintaining open lines of communication with Supervisors and Resource Controllers.


  • Compliance & Safety: Strictly adhere to company Health & Safety rules, employing Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and proper PPE at all times.


  • Documentation & Asset Management: Keep clear, accurate records of work (including photos where required) and ensure all tools, plant, and equipment are kept safe, clean, and in top working order.



What We Are Looking For

Qualifications & Essentials


  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation


  • City & Guilds 2391 Testing and Inspection (or equivalent - Essential)


  • 18th Edition Electrical Regulations (17th Edition knowledge desirable)


  • Full UK Driving Licence


  • DBS check will be required prior to starting the role.


Experience & Skills


  • 2-5 years of experience working within Social Housing or Building Maintenance environments.


  • Strong Communication: Able to liaise clearly and concisely over the phone with team members and controllers.


  • Tenant Management: Comfortable, polite, and professional when interacting with tenants, including managing sensitive or contentious discussions regarding ongoing repairs.


  • Safety First Mindset: A practical, proactive approach to site safety for yourself, colleagues, and residents.


  • Bonus: An active CSCS card is a distinct advantage.
