We are seeking an experienced Electrician to join our team and support our broader repairs and maintenance by efficiently and effectively delivering high‑quality installation, maintenance and repair work across all existing and new projects. This role is busy and varied, and you will be working with experienced professionals from a variety of trades.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and enhance electrical systems and components, including fuses, lighting and wiring
- Inspect, test and diagnose issues with electrical systems and components
- Perform all work in a manner that meets and follows electrical codes, blueprints and standards
- Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning
- Complete required documentation of repairs and service information
- Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies and parts
- Calibrate equipment to provided specifications
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components
- Troubleshoot problems and make timely repairs
- Communicate with the wider repairs and maintenance team as well as liaise with clients, suppliers and other trades
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- NVQ level 3 or above
- 18th Edition
- Test and inspect 2391 – Desirable
- Proven ability to deliver high quality electrical works to meet client expectations on projects whilst maintaining efficient output
- Ability to read and understand electrical blueprints, schematics and diagrams
- Working knowledge of electrical theory, principles, materials and equipment
- Demonstrated ability to operate hand and power tools associated with electrical work
- Ability to calculate basic mathematical problems
- Excellent understanding of Health and Safety regulations and procedures
- Capability of taking initiative and working independently
- Ability to communicate with key stakeholders effectively and confidently
Working Arrangements
- Hours: 36 hours per week (Mon – Fri)
- Location: Barking & Dagenham area (travel throughout the borough will be required)
- Pay: £42,000 per annum
- Driving is required – a full clean UK driving licence is essential
- DBS required due to the nature of occupied premises and sites
