Job description

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrician to join the estates team of our prestigious client in Glasgow City Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and supportive environment, contributing to the ongoing maintenance and development of our campus facilities.

The basic salary is £40,000 per annum. The working hours are Sunday to Thursday, 10pm to 6:30am, with a 1-hour lunch break. The schedule involves two weeks of night shifts followed by two weeks of day shifts, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules across campus.
  • Responding promptly to electrical breakdowns and faults.
  • Conducting minor installation works, including containment systems, cabling (lighting, small power, emergency lighting), and more.
  • Performing routine maintenance on main and sub-main switchboards and electrical distribution networks.
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults in a wide range of electrical systems, including Heating & Ventilation (H&V) control systems.
  • Undertaking testing of electrical installations and systems in accordance with regulations.
  • Completing remedial works following routine inspections or fault identification.
  • Making minor alterations to fire alarm and intruder alarm systems.
  • Participating in the emergency call-out rota.
  • Ensuring all work complies with departmental procedures and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Attending relevant skills training and development activities.
  • Performing other duties as reasonably expected in line with the role.

Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance, installation, and fault-finding. (18th Edition preferred)
  • A solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship and service delivery.
