Job summary

Adecco Group UK & Ireland is recruiting for an Electrician to join a leading manufacturing facility in Dumfries. Full training will be provided for domestic electricians moving into an industrial setting.

This role suits an experienced industrial electrician or a domestic electrician developing skills within a manufacturing environment. It is a full-time, on-site position with various shift patterns and strong long-term career prospects.

Qualifications

• Basic fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of electrical control and drive systems.
• Ability to read and update electrical schematics and control documentation.
• Strong safety-minded and proactive attitude.
• Proficient IT skills including Word, Excel and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical maintenance including reactive, planned and improvement work.
• Maintain plant equipment and process machinery, including PLCs and drives.
• Complete installation work including 3-phase and containment systems.
• Assist with network cabling installations.
• Support engineering projects and site improvement initiatives.
• Carry out portable appliance testing (PAT).
• Assist with apprentice training and mentoring.
• Ensure all work complies with health, safety, environmental and regulatory standards.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues across the business.

Full training will be provided for domestic electricians looking to move into an industrial setting.

This role would suit an experienced industrial electrician or a domestic electrician looking to develop their skills within a manufacturing environment. Candidates should be motivated, technically minded, safety-focused and keen to build a long-term career within engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical maintenance activities including reactive, planned and improvement work
• Maintain plant equipment and process machinery, including PLCs and electrical drive systems
• Complete installation work including 3-phase, single-phase and containment systems
• Assist with network cabling installations
• Support engineering projects and site improvement initiatives
• Carry out portable appliance testing (PAT)
• Assist with apprentice training and mentoring
• Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, environmental and legislative standards
• Communicate effectively with colleagues across the business

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Electrician
• City & Guilds or SVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification
• Experience working in a similar industrial role following qualification
• Basic understanding of ventilation, pneumatic, hydraulic and steam service systems
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of electrical control and drive systems
• Ability to read and update electrical schematics and control documentation
• Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams

Desirable Skills & Experience

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• Experience with PLCs, programming and fault diagnosis
• Experience working with industrial robotics
• Knowledge of machine safety systems and interlocking functions
• Familiarity with Beckhoff PLC systems
• Experience following detailed written procedures and processes
