Job summary

Innovate Recruitment Ltd client seeks an Electrical Engineer to join the Maintenance Engineering team in the UK, operating a 7‑day shift. You will support planned and reactive maintenance and assist the projects team on new installations.

The role includes calibration, fault-finding, panel work, and providing training to junior technicians, with a focus on safety, reliability, and improving plant performance.

Qualifications

• Time-served with manufacturing experience and PLC/drive configuration knowledge.
• Experience with Siemens/ABB AC/DC drives and electrical drawings.
• Able to fault-find on production machinery and support panel wiring.
• Experience with commissioning and installing equipment is desirable.
• 18th Edition and CompEx qualifications would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical support for manufacturing processes and facilities.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production equipment.
• Calibrate and validate equipment such as load cells and temperature controllers.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production machinery.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to improve reliability and performance.
• Maintain CMMS records of maintenance activities and repairs.
• Ensure health and safety compliance including permits to work and LOTO.
• Assist in installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Provide technical support and training to junior technicians.
• Support production processes to improve machine output and resolve issues.
• Work with the on-site project department on new electrical control systems.

Electrical Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join their Maintenance Engineering team, working a 7-day shift pattern.

The role of Electrical Engineer will provide support and resource for both planned and reactive maintenance activities, as well as supporting the engineering projects team on new projects and installations.

Package is base salary, plus £12,627 shift allowance - other comprehensive company benefits are available.

Your tasks

• Provide electrical support to ensure that the manufacturing process, facilities and services are managed and maintained to a high standard.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance of production equipment to ensure a reliable manufacturing process.
• Perform calibration, validation and corrections on equipment such as load cells and temperature controllers.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production machinery and supporting equipment.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs, using a CMMS system.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies, including but not limited to permits to work, pre-work risk assessment and method statements, LOTO, ATEX.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Provide technical support and training to junior technicians and apprentices.
• Provide engineering support to the production process when required in order to improve machine output and rectify processing issues.
• Work alongside the on-site project department to develop new/improved electrical control systems.

What's expected

• Time-served with experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Relevant experience in PLC and drive configuration, preferably Siemens, to aid in the diagnosis process.
• Experience with AC/DC drives (primarily Siemens & ABB).
• Knowledge/experience of tension control systems.
• Bus network systems (Profibus, Profinet).
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical circuits, with the ability to read and understand electrical drawings.
• Proficient in fault-finding and installation of various types of installations, including large production machines and domestic/commercial installations.
• Able to produce electrical panels from wiring/schematic drawings.
• 18th Edition and CompEx qualifications would be advantageous.
• Able to work on own initiative with a willingness to multi-skill.
