Job summary

Kingston Barnes Ltd is recruiting a Multiskilled Shift Engineer for a fast-growing manufacturing site in Bridgwater. You will maintain, repair and improve a wide range of production equipment on a 12-hour shift pattern.

We seek strong electrical and mechanical skills, including PLCs, hydraulics and pneumatics, to ensure maximum uptime, reliability, and efficiency of machinery. The role requires proactive problem-solving and teamwork on site.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial engineering environment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical skills, including PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, sensors, conveyors.
• Engineering qualification (HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Confident fault-finder with strong problem-solving ability.
• Able to manage workload and priorities effectively.
• Good communication skills and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance (PPM).
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and production issues.
• Carry out equipment inspections to ensure safe and compliant operation.
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Keep accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability projects.
• Work in line with health & safety and site procedures.

Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer | £61,500 | 4 on 4 off (days and nights)

Location: Bridgwater

The Role

A fast-growing manufacturing business with strong expansion plans is seeking a Multiskilled Shift Engineer to join its engineering team.

You will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving a wide range of production equipment across a shift-based operation. The role requires strong electrical and mechanical skills to ensure maximum uptime, reliability, and efficiency of machinery.

You will play a key part in reducing downtime, supporting production, and driving continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

Salary

Up to £61,500

Shift Pattern

12-hour shifts: 2 days, 2 nights, followed by 4 rest days
