Job summary

Kingston Barnes Ltd in Bridgwater is seeking an electrically biased maintenance engineer to join its fast-growing manufacturing operation, responsible for maintaining and improving a wide range of production equipment on a 4-on/4-off days and nights shift.

You will diagnose faults, perform PPM and reactive maintenance, support new equipment installation, and keep accurate records while adhering to health and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical skills including PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics.
• Engineering qualification such as HNC/HND or NVQ Level 3.
• Good problem-solving and fault-finding ability.
• Strong workload management and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance (PPM).
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and production issues.
• Inspect equipment for safe operation and compliance.
• Assist installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability projects.
• Follow health & safety and site procedures.

Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer | £61,500 | 4 on 4 off (days and nights)

Location: Bridgwater

The Role

A fast-growing manufacturing business with strong expansion plans is seeking a Multiskilled Shift Engineer to join its engineering team.

You will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving a wide range of production equipment across a shift-based operation. The role requires strong electrical and mechanical skills to ensure maximum uptime, reliability, and efficiency of machinery.

You will play a key part in reducing downtime, supporting production, and driving continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance (PPM)
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and production issues
• Carry out equipment inspections to ensure safe and compliant operation
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
• Keep accurate maintenance records and documentation
• Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability projects
• Work in line with health & safety and site procedures

About You

• Experience in a manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial engineering environment
• Strong electrical and mechanical skills (including PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, sensors, conveyors)
• Engineering qualification (HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
• Confident fault-finder with strong problem-solving ability
• Able to manage workload and priorities effectively
• Good communication skills and team collaboration

Salary

Up to £61,500

Shift Pattern

12-hour shifts: 2 days, 2 nights, followed by 4 rest days
