Job summary

Associated British Ports (ABP) is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician for the Port of Ipswich to maintain critical infrastructure and equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency. You will report to the Engineering Supervisor and work on port plant, with travel to East Anglia locations as needed.

The role focuses on preventive and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and compliance with safety regulations in a busy industrial environment.

Qualifications

Recognised electrical engineering qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC, HNC or equivalent.
Time-served experience as Electrical Technician or Electrical Engineer.
Experience in heavy industrial plant and equipment.

Responsibilities

Carry out maintenance, fault finding, repair and servicing of port plant and equipment.
Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to minimise downtime.
Work safely and in compliance with procedures, legislation and safe systems of work.
Support operations by maintaining asset availability and reliability.
Contribute to risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide guidance to apprentices and semi-skilled colleagues.
Maintain accurate records and communicate progress to supervisors.
