Job summary

Tokamak Energy is seeking a hands-on Electrical Technician to support a wide range of engineering, lab, and infrastructure activities within a dynamic technical environment.

You will work across multiple projects, tackling control systems, mains electrical infrastructure, fault finding, and installation with minimal supervision. The role suits problem-solvers who enjoy practical challenges and skill development within a cutting-edge fusion energy setting.

Qualifications

• Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on training and experience.
• Experience working safely with low voltage (LV) electrical systems.
• Ability to test, fault-find, and work confidently on electrical systems.
• Experience working with control systems, control panels, or similar electrical assemblies.
• Ability to read and work from electrical drawings and schematics.
• Solid understanding of health and safety principles when working with electrical systems.
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, practical environment.
• Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and ability to work within a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design, layout, installation, and commissioning of control panels and control systems.
• Assemble, install, and maintain electrical systems, panels, and associated equipment.
• Carry out fault finding and troubleshooting on control systems, power supplies, and electrical infrastructure.
• Work on mains-powered systems, including distribution boards and final circuits.
• Install and maintain cable containment systems such as tray, conduit, and trunking.
• Install and support data networks and associated cabling and equipment.
• Perform testing and commissioning of electrical equipment and infrastructure.
• Respond to electrical breakdowns and emergency repairs.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and contractors on larger-scale projects.
• Maintain safe working areas, identify risks, and ensure materials and tools are available when needed.
