Job description

We have a great opportunity for a career-minded individual to join our waste team as the Electrical Technician at Earlswood STW.

As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical and mechanical plant equipment.

You will also be working in a multi-discipline team and will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance work on electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns.

What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician
  1. Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions.
  2. Investigate and diagnose complex faults and carry out repairs during incidents.
  3. Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if required.
  4. Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, controls, electronic control systems like VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
  5. Participate in a standby rota following relevant training.
Location and Schedule

Base Location: Earlswood - Redhill - RH1 5HE.

38 hours per week, Monday-Friday 07:30 am - 15:36 pm, plus standby rota with additional pay.

All PPE, tools, and a van will be provided.

Requirements
  • 18th Edition Electrical City and Guilds Certification or equivalent.
  • Experience in electrical systems, ideally with an apprenticeship in a multi-skilled capacity.
  • Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modification, or repair of electrical plant equipment.
  • Experience with large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSD, and 3-phase electrical switchgear is essential.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards relevant to the industry.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces (training provided).
  • Full UK driving license.
