Job Opportunity: Electrical Technician at Thames Water

We are recruiting an Electrical Technician for our Water Operations team based in Little Marlow, SL7 3RT. The role involves performing front-line maintenance and operational activities on sewage pumping stations across Thames Valley North (Reading, High Wycombe, Marlow, Oxford). Responsibilities include planned and preventive electrical equipment maintenance to support asset operation.

This position offers a chance to contribute significantly to Thames Water by ensuring services meet time, cost, and quality standards through activities like operation, testing, routine checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform scheduled, planned, and reactive maintenance on wastewater assets and electrical machinery, minimizing plant downtime.
  2. Communicate professionally with customers, managing expectations effectively.
  3. Investigate plant failures, diagnose faults, and carry out repairs swiftly to prevent process interruptions.
  4. Provide technical advice, stay updated with technical knowledge, and support training for trainees.
  5. Work on various equipment, including pumps, control gear, motors, VSDs, valves, sensors, PLCs, and chemical dosing systems.
Location and Working Pattern

Base: Little Marlow, SL7 3RT

Hours: 38 per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Overtime and standby payments can increase annual earnings by up to £15,000 after training.

Candidate Requirements
  • Experienced or time-served apprentice in electrical systems, with significant multi-skilled capacity.
  • 18th Edition Electrical City and Guilds certification essential.
  • Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, and repairing electrical plant equipment.
  • Preferably experienced with large pumps, actuated valves, VSDs, and switchgear.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards relevant to the industry.
  • Physically fit to work in confined spaces and undergo necessary training.
  • Full UK driving license required.
