Job summary

Seismic Recruitment is seeking an Electrical Systems Validation Engineer for an onsite role in Peterborough. The position is an initial 12 month contract, 37 hours per week with standard site hours.

You will support a fast-paced engineering team across the full development lifecycle, from concept through validation and commissioning of electrified machines. Qualifications

  • Experience developing and integrating electrical systems within automotive, off-highway, industrial equipment or similar industries.
  • Hands-on experience with LV & HV electrical systems (60V to 1500V+), including commissioning and fault finding.
  • Strong understanding of engineering standards and validation processes for electrified systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrified machine demonstrators and prototype machines.
  • Work with design, controls, software and integration teams to meet compliance requirements.
  • Develop electrical system requirements and specifications.
  • Contribute to electrical architecture development and test plans.
  • Validate complete machine electrical systems including HV/LV architectures and power distribution.
  • Troubleshoot, commission and fault-find during integration activities.
  • Review compliance requirements for electrical safety/industry standards.

Electrical Systems Validation Engineer
Peterborough PE1 (Onsite role)

Initial 12 month contract – potential to extend for the right person! 37 hours a week: Mon – Fri, site standard hours are 08.30 – 16.45 Mon – Thurs, 08.30 – 16.15 Fri Up to £31.00 PAYE hourly rate plus holiday and pension contribution OR Umbrella hourly rates up to £42.02

The Electrical Systems Engineer will support a fast-paced engineering team responsible for developing low-volume, pre-production and demonstrator machines. The work spans the full development lifecycle, from early concept and requirements definition through system integration, machine build, compliance activities and validation!

You will have the opportunity to support multiple electrification and advanced development programmes and will have exposure to cutting-edge battery, power electronics and electrified machine technologies. You’ll have significant hands‑on involvement with prototype hardware, machine builds and validation activities and will have the opportunity to work closely with customers, test facilities and cross-functional engineering teams.

What the Electrical Systems Validation Engineer will do:
  • Support the development of electrified machine demonstrators and prototype machines
  • Work closely with design, controls, software + machine integration teams to develop safe, robust & practical electrical solutions which perform and meet compliance requirements
  • Support development of electrical system requirements and technical specifications
  • Contribute to electrical architecture development and system integration activities
  • Support component selection and technical evaluation of electrical subsystems
  • Develop validation plans, test procedures and acceptance criteria
  • Validate complete machine electrical systems, including HV and LV architectures, controls integration and power distribution systems
  • Perform hands‑on troubleshooting, commissioning, fault finding and debugging activities
  • Support machine build activities and resolve integration issues as they arise
  • Review compliance requirements + support activities for electrical safety/industry standards
  • Document technical decisions, test results and engineering recommendations
  • Some travel may be required to support project and customer activities
What the Electrical Systems Validation Engineer Will Need:
  • Experience developing and integrating electrical systems within automotive, off-highway, industrial equipment, aerospace, rail or similar industries, from requirements and component selection through to validation and issue resolution
  • Hands‑on experience working with LV & HV electrical systems (typically 60V to 1500V+ applications), including commissioning, debugging and fault finding activities using CAN tools
  • Strong understanding of engineering standards, off-highway machine compliance requirements and validation processes for electrified systems
  • Experience defining requirements and supporting technical decision‑making
  • Knowledge of electrical safety requirements, standards and compliance processes
  • Experience with commissioning, fault finding and root‑cause investigation
  • Familiarity with CAN‑based systems, controls integration and machine communications
  • Experience using measurement, diagnostic and data acquisition equipment
  • Strong analytical and technical problem‑solving skills
