Job summary

Nestlé UK & I in York is seeking a Project Engineer to lead and support the design, implementation and start-up of capital investment projects across manufacturing sites. You will ensure project objectives, design specifications and Nestlé standards are delivered, while collaborating with colleagues across multiple functions.

The role reports to the Capex Manager and supports York and Girvan sites, handling projects from £50k to £1m with focus on safety, compliance and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of modern automation systems and safety standards.
• Experience leading engineering projects in manufacturing, ideally FMCG.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations is beneficial.
• Understanding of process and packaging equipment is advantageous.
• Proficient IT skills including MS Office and AutoCAD LT; MS Project preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver capital engineering projects within budgets and timescales.
• Develop project scopes, schedules and budgets for investments.
• Ensure safety and hygiene standards in project delivery.
• Champion compliance with Health & Safety legislation and site procedures.
• Lead commissioning and start-up of plant and equipment to meet performance targets.
• Develop scopes, budgets and timing plans for projects from £50k to £1m.
• Coordinate and support third-party contractors on site.
• Collaborate with Operations, R&D, Marketing and Logistics to align scope and budgets.
• Work in multi-disciplinary teams to achieve shared goals.
• Support environmental compliance and minimise environmental impact.
• Report SHE incidents and contribute to site SHE objectives.
