Project Engineer – Battery Storage

Location – UK, Remote, with occasional travel required

Contract Type – Permanent

Working Hours – 37 Hours

As a driver of energy transformation, RWE develops, builds and operates a multitude of battery storage systems. These are either operated stand-alone, e.g., to provide grid stability services, or as hybrid assets to optimize renewable energy sources such as wind, PV, or run-of-river plants. About The Role

1. Coordinate responsibilities between project team and operator as owner’s engineer for new projects in the execution phase.
2. Ensure design conformity with existing BESS and employer requirements.
3. Define technical requirements for new projects from the operator’s perspective, in coordination with operation & maintenance and asset management teams.
4. Ensure completeness and correctness of handover documentation and compliance with management systems (ISMS, SAP, etc.).
5. Conduct design review for new projects during development, regarding conformity to Employer Requirements, regulations, and standards.
6. Manage internal modification projects on BESS in operation, including coordination with operation & maintenance teams.
7. Provide active feedback and support for Lessons Learned and Employer Requirements, participating in internal and external expert groups to promote knowledge exchange in battery storage systems.

Job Requirements And Experience

1. Degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable field with several years of experience in a technical environment.
2. Knowledge in HV and LV installations, I&C and automation systems, including verification of SLDs and electrical designs, project management, and relevant standards and regulations.
3. Nice-to-have knowledge in design, construction, and operation of BESS, SAP, IT/OT networks, and cost planning and control.
4. Analytical and conceptual thinking skills, good communication skills, and team spirit to convey ideas to stakeholders.
5. Willingness to travel (up to 25%, not regularly).

Advantageous, Not Essential

• Business fluent in English, both spoken and written.
