Project Civil Engineer (Renewables Energy Infrastructure)

With a strong Confirmed Order Book and a growing pipeline of multi-disciplinary Renewable Energy Infrastructure Projects covering On-shore Wind, Major Substations, Transmission & Distribution Reinforcing Works, On-shore Cabling & Infrastructure for Off-shore Wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), we currently have an opportunity for a Project Civil Engineer (Renewables Energy Infrastructure) to join our team in Glasgow.


What you'll be doing:

  1. Lead the production of design packages for concept, tender, and detailed phases of renewable energy projects, focusing on:
  • Wind, Transmission & Distribution, Major Substations, BESS, and other Renewable Energy Infrastructure Projects, ensuring buildability, value engineering, and compliance with environmental, health & safety, and specifications.
  • Develop concept designs for Planning & Permitting stages.
  • Design bridge and retaining structures considering structural form and flooding levels, coordinating structural design.
  • Perform catchment assessments and culvert hydraulic design, including CAR authorisation.
  • Create sustainable drainage concepts, consulting with EA, SEPA, and other statutory consultees.
  • Design public highway improvements for site access, including road authority consultations and construction consent submissions.
  • Coordinate with other discipline leads to deliver multi-disciplinary design services covering site investigation, geotechnical assessments, material reusability, turbine foundation design, bridge design, and construction monitoring.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary engineering design projects or packages, acting as the client key point of contact.
  • Manage health, safety, and environmental hazards from design concept to detailed stages, working with the project team to develop hazard awareness and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Implement project management procedures, ensuring compliance with HSQE principles and statutory requirements.

  • Who we're looking for:
    • Postgraduate experience in a consulting engineering practice or equivalent.
    • Experience leading or being part of a design team delivering civil infrastructure packages, coordinating multi-discipline civil designs for clients.
    • Experience in onshore wind, offshore wind land-based works, renewable energy, or related infrastructure (training provided if not experienced).
    • Knowledge of environmental and engineering design procedures and construction processes.
    • Understanding of work-winning principles and client relationship management.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant software (Civils 3D, Flow, Micro-drainage, etc.).

    Technical Attributes:
    • Design expertise in civil infrastructure related to own and team responsibilities.
    • Experience with Civils 3D modeling and analysis of linear construction projects.
    • Knowledge of geometrical and sustainable drainage design.
    • Experience with pipe network, attenuation, and culvert modeling software.
    • Understanding of Earthworks materials and testing requirements.
    • Ability to assess or develop access solutions using DMRB and local standards.
    • Proven ability to deliver design packages and secure approvals.
    • Capability to produce engineering drawings, reports, and calculations.

    Qualifications:
    • BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering or similar.
    • Graduate membership with ICE or equivalent (desirable), with progression towards professional qualification.
