Job summary

1st Step Solutions Ltd in London is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join a leading M&E contractor on a new commercial project. You will attend and lead meetings, review tender information, and deliver design drawings while managing procurement, commissioning, and cost control.

The role requires an HNC building services qualification, MS Office proficiency, and strong health and safety awareness, with responsibility for contract management and client liaison.

Qualifications

• HNC/HNC in Building Services Engineering or similar required.
• CSCS/IOSH/SMSTS certifications required.
• Experience as a Project Engineer on M&E commercial projects with responsibility for full contract management.
• Ability to deliver objectives in a timely manner.
• Strong IT skills, especially MS Office.
• Awareness of health and safety requirements and risk control.
• Active contribution to the team (internal and client teams).

Responsibilities

• Attend and host team meetings.
• Lead and issue meeting notes for technical and progress workshop meetings.
• Review tender information including design drawings, specifications and equipment schedules.
• Deliver design/working drawings and manage additional costs and delays.
• Production and technical compliance checking of submissions against specifications and ER documents.
• Produce package scoping documents.
• Review drawings against specifications and ER documents.
• Develop a commissioning strategy for the installation.
• Manage procurement, value engineering and better buying against tender allowances.
• Program the works and sub-contract packages.
• Production and management of programmes.
• Report project progress to PM.
• Manage installation and commissioning activities of assigned packages.
• Handover documentation (record drawings / test and commission).
• Advise PM of variation costs; assist QS with monthly PFR report.
• Cost control; liaise with project surveyor.
• Quality and risk control (programme and commercial).

1st Step Solutions are supporting a leading M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join their team on a new commercial project in London.

Responsibilities:

• - Attend & host team meetings.
• - Lead and issue meeting notes for technical and progress workshop meetings.
• - Reviewing tender information including design drawings, specifications and equipment schedules.
• - Delivering the design / working drawings necessary to deliver the project and ensure you capture any additional costs and programme delays caused by external influences on their production.
• - Production and technical compliance checking of technical submissions against specifications and ER documents.
• - Production of package scoping documents.
• - Reviewing and compliance checking our working drawings against specifications and ER documents.
• - Being able to develop a commissioning strategy for the installation.
• - Management of procurement. Value engineering (where asked for) and better buying against the tender allowances.
• - Programming of the works and sub-contract packages.
• - Production and management of programmes.
• - Project reporting to PM.
• - Manage installation and commissioning activities of your assigned packages.

Qualifications/Skills:

• - HNC/HNC in Building Services Engineering or similar.
• - CSCS/IOSH/SMSTS.
• - Experience of working as a Project Engineer on M&E commercial projects, as well as ideally having had responsibility for full contract management.
• - Capability to accept responsibilities and accomplish project objectives in a timely manner.
• - Good computer skills especially with Microsoft Office.
• - Be aware of health and safety requirements and the continual assessment/control of risk.
• - To actively contribute to the team (internal and client team).
