Job summary

Matchtech Group seeks a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join its London-based team. The role provides technical leadership across design development, procurement through to installation, testing and commissioning.

You will lead coordination of electrical design information, manage procurement packages and review shop drawings, while planning works and supervising on-site activities to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Significant electrical engineering experience in construction or complex buildings.
• Strong knowledge of electrical principles, installation systems and delivery.
• Experience with procurement, installation, testing and commissioning processes.
• Familiarity with Building Safety Act and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead coordination and management of electrical design information and queries.
• Manage electrical procurement packages, supplier evaluations and submittals.
• Review and approve electrical shop drawings, material submittals and methods.
• Plan, track and recover electrical works; oversee on-site installation.
• Lead electrical BIM coordination and clash resolution.
• Own QA/QC processes, including ITPs, inspections, testing and NCR closure.
• Coordinate testing/commissioning and ensure compliance with specs and standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, subcontractors and management.

Job description

Our client, a leading organisation in the construction and building services sector, is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join its London-based team. This permanent role will provide technical leadership and assurance across the electrical scope, from design development and procurement through to installation, testing and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the coordination and management of electrical design information, resolving technical queries and ensuring compliance with project requirements
• Manage electrical procurement packages, including supplier selection, technical evaluations, submittals and long-lead strategies
• Review and approve electrical shop drawings, material submittals and method statements
• Plan and track electrical works, identifying risks, labour requirements and recovery actions
• Oversee on-site electrical installations, ensuring quality, productivity and compliance with specifications and statutory requirements
• Manage electrical material take-offs and procurement schedules
• Lead electrical BIM coordination, including clash detection and resolution
• Own electrical quality assurance and quality control processes, including ITPs, inspections, testing and NCR closure
• Lead electrical testing, commissioning, factory acceptance tests and integrated systems testing
• Work closely with project managers, construction teams, design consultants, specialist subcontractors and internal technical management

Job Requirements:

• Significant experience in electrical engineering within construction, building services or complex building projects
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, installation systems and project delivery
• Experience managing electrical works across relevant RIBA stages
• Understanding of design coordination, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning processes
• Knowledge of the Building Safety Act, statutory requirements and construction compliance
• Experience with electrical BIM coordination and clash resolution
• HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
• Valid CSCS card
• SMSTS and a degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering would be advantageous
• Strong leadership, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
