Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking a Pre-Construction Engineer (Electrical) to support energy and power infrastructure projects from enquiry through handover. This hybrid role collaborates with engineering, commercial and operations teams to ensure technical compliance and robust tender submissions.

You will review client specs, prepare electrical scopes for HV/LV, manage technical queries, support cost estimates, and contribute to value engineering while coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in power/renewables electrical infra projects.
• Knowledge of HV/LV systems and electrical drawings.
• Experience supporting bids and pre-construction activities.
• Knowledge of BS 7671 and NEC contracts.

Responsibilities

• Review client specifications, technical documentation, drawings and connection requirements for tenders and proposals.
• Identify technical risks, scope gaps, assumptions, exclusions and compliance requirements.
• Develop electrical scopes of work covering HV and LV systems, protection, control, earthing, containment and cabling.
• Produce compliance and deviation schedules and manage technical queries throughout the tender process.
• Complete quantity take-offs and support project cost estimates.
• Work closely with commercial teams to develop accurate and competitive tender submissions.
• Prepare subcontract packages, including testing, commissioning and quality requirements.
• Define project interfaces, responsibilities and inspection requirements.
• Review supplier and subcontractor quotations and support technical evaluations.
• Support project handovers by communicating key assumptions, risks and technical requirements to delivery teams.
• Contribute to value engineering and alternative technical solutions where appropriate.
