Job summary

Andrews Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Multi Skilled Engineer for a busy food manufacturing site in Ashford, Kent. You will perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults and driving improvements to reliability and efficiency.

The role requires a strong electrical/mechanical background, working to a 60:40 split, with responsibility for keeping production lines running and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Completed UK engineering apprenticeship.
• Minimum five years' experience in a multi-skilled maintenance engineering role.
• 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Strong electrical fault-finding skills with solid mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience diagnosing PLC-controlled machinery and electrical control systems.
• Knowledge of motors, drives, conveyors, pneumatics and industrial production equipment.
• Valid MEWP/IPAF licence.
• Good computer literacy and maintenance reporting skills.
• Willingness to work rotating early, late and night shifts, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across production machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Fault finding on PLC-controlled equipment, SCADA systems, electrical power and control circuits.
• Maintain conveyors, mechanical drives, motors, pneumatics and associated production equipment.
• Support maintenance activities across packing lines, cold stores, refrigeration systems, cooling towers and wastewater equipment.
• Work closely with production supervisors and operators to maintain efficient plant operations.
• Identify recurring equipment faults and implement improvements to increase reliability.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, waste and energy consumption.
• Complete maintenance documentation, compliance checks and engineering records.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety procedures.
