Job summary
RG Setsquare in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Electrical Craftsperson to join a busy engineering and maintenance team. You will carry out electrical installations, repairs and preventative maintenance across the site.
The role involves testing, emergency lighting work and on-call duties, with overtime opportunities and a focus on safe, compliant operations.
Qualifications
- Completed Electrical Apprenticeship with relevant qualifications.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations required.
- AM2 qualification required.
- Strong hands-on experience in electrical installation, maintenance and repair.
- Good driving licence and ability to work on-call.
Responsibilities
- Carry out general electrical installations, repairs and maintenance on site.
- Install, repair and replace sockets, switches, lamps and other components.
- Perform retrofitting and replacement of electrical components and equipment.
- Carry out rewiring and modification works to existing assets and systems.
- Install, test and maintain emergency lighting systems.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) per schedules.
- Inspect fuse boards and distribution equipment.
- Carry out PAT testing and remedial work.
- Conduct RCD testing and electrical safety checks.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs safely and efficiently.
- Maintain maintenance records and compliance documentation accurately.
- Work safely and follow Health & Safety procedures and electrical regulations.
- Respond to reactive maintenance requests and faults as required.
- participate in on-call rota (approx. 1 in 9/10) and overtime as needed.

⚡ This is an excellent opportunity for a fully qualified, apprentice-trained electrician with strong practical experience across electrical installations, repairs, testing, maintenance and fault finding.
The role will involve supporting the day-to-day electrical maintenance of the site, ensuring electrical systems and assets remain safe, compliant and fully operational.
🔧 What You'll Be Doing:
🔌 Carrying out general electrical installations, repairs and maintenance across the site.
💡 Installing, repairing and replacing sockets, switches, lamps and other electrical components.
