Job Title: Electrical Maintenance TechnicianPermanent, 2 days/2 nights/4 off rotation, 35 days holiday, bonus, great pension, general product discounts across brands.Job PurposeMaintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems across industrial and domestic environments to ensure safe, reliable operation. Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on plant equipment, including overhead cranes, motor/drive systems, PLC-based controls and associated safety systems.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform time-served electrical maintenance in industrial and domestic wiring environments.Install, maintain, and fault-find electrical systems using sound working knowledge of wiring practices.Interpret and work to electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown work.Diagnose and repair AC/DC motor and gearbox drive systems across various configurations.Maintain variable speed motor control systems using inverters and converters, including speed feedback devices.Support PLC systems—especially Siemens, Allen Bradley—including HMI-based interfaces.Maintain and test overhead cranes and associated safety systems, ensuring compliance and safe operation.Maintain awareness of safety-related control systems and implement safe working practices in line with risk assessments and site procedures.Ensure defects are documented accurately and all maintenance activities are completed to standard.Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve reliability and minimise downtime.Technical Skills & RequirementsTime served electrical experience.Competence in industrial/domestic wiring, including safe isolation and verification procedures.Working knowledge of:PLC systems (Siemens and Allen Bradley) and HMI integrationAC/DC motor systems, gearbox drives, and variable speed controlInverters and converters, plus speed feedback devicesElectrical drawings and control wiring diagramsSafety-related control systemsExperience with overhead cranes and their safety systems (hoist, control circuits, interlocks, and safe operation checks).Ability to fault-find using appropriate test equipment and follow safe systems of work.Health & SafetyFollow all site safety rules, permitting/LOTO procedures, and working-at-height requirements where applicable.Demonstrate awareness of safety circuits, interlocks, and emergency stop systems.Ensure maintenance work does not compromise safety control integrity.Desirable (Not Mandatory)Crane maintenance qualifications/recognised training related to overhead lifting systems.Experience supporting upgrades or modification of Siemens/Allen Bradley PLC and HMI applications.Demonstrable track record reducing downtime through effective diagnostics and preventive maintenance.GATEXWork Location: In person
