Job summary

Westray Recruitment Group is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician for a major steel pipes site in Teesside. The role focuses on providing first line electrical support to keep production lines available, including conveyors, ovens, mills and cranes.

You will work to high safety standards and contribute to continuous improvement within a large, energy-focused manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has completed an electrical apprenticeship and experience in heavy engineering.

• Completed an electrical apprenticeship.
• Worked in a multi‑skilled environment within a heavy engineering manufacturing environment.

• Knowledge and use of computer‑based maintenance software.

• Industrial/domestic wiring.
• Hydraulic and Pneumatic Control Systems.
• Overhead Cranes & associated safety systems.
• PLC’s in the main Allen Bradley and Siemens.
• Expertise with AC and DC motor/gearbox drive systems of various configurations.
• Variable speed motor control with inverters and converters, including speed feedback devices.

Responsibilities

• Provide first line Electrical support to manufacturing areas to ensure maximum equipment availability.
• Maintain equipment such as conveyors, ovens, mills, overhead cranes, welding lines, bevelling machines, handling equipment, lighting circuitry, HV/LV systems.
• Adhere to safety regulations, procedures and policies.
• Execute planned maintenance tasks and follow task schedule by priority.
• Respond to plant breakdowns and machine size changes to minimise downtime.
• Deal with proxy adjustments, alignments, sequencing and resets.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?

Permanent role from day one

• Basic salary is circa £39,285 plus 15% shift allowance equating to an annual salary £45,178
• 3 week cycle continental shift pattern 12‑hour shifts
• Week 1: 2 x days / 2 x nights
• Week 2: 3 x days
• Week 3: 3 x nights
• (i.e. a mix of 12‑hour days/nights between 9pm Sunday until 6pm Friday, no weekend working apart from night shift starting on a Sunday night and overtime paid on Saturday and double time Sunday when applicable)

THE ROLE

• The purpose of the role is to provide first line Electrical support to manufacturing areas to ensure maximum availability of equipment within the two mills on site.
• Working to maintain equipment such as conveyors, ovens, mills, overhead cranes, welding lines, bevelling machines, handling equipment, lighting circuitry, HV/LV systems, etc.
• You will be responsible for conducting all aspects of the job in a safe manner and adhere to statutory and mandatory safety regulations, procedures and policies.
• You will execute planned maintenance tasks effectively, working through the task schedule in order of priority.
• Responding to plant breakdowns and machine size changes ensuring plant downtime is minimised.
• Dealing with proxy adjustments & alignments, sequencing and resets.
