Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is recruiting a Contract Electrical Maintenance Engineer for a FMCG manufacturing site in North Yorkshire. The role is a 2-month contract (likely extendable), inside IR35, with day shifts, no nights, some weekend work, and a UK hourly rate of £38-£41.

You will diagnose faults on conveyors, motors, drives and PLCs, perform preventative maintenance, support automation, and help keep production lines running safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment - ideally with conveyors, motors, drives, etc
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work independently on maintenance or modification projects
• A proactive, problem-solving approach and commitment to continuous improvement
• Computer-literate with a good understanding of maintenance reporting systems

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance across production machinery, including conveyors, motors, and drives
• Perform planned and reactive maintenance
• Support the plant and automated systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and handling equipment
• Attend to breakdowns promptly, delivering fast, safe, and effective mechanical repairs
• Assist in modification and improvement projects on process lines and production equipment
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring reliability and performance targets are achieved
• Maintain safe working practices and uphold engineering standards across all tasks

The Opportunity Contract Electrical Maintenance Engineer

• Strong multi-skilled electrical fault diagnosis
• Experience with conveyors, motors, drives, sensors & PLC s
• Ability to cope with wet/dusty, contamination-prone environments
• Preventative maintenance planning to avoid damaging food safety interruptions
• Quick turnaround repairs during high-volume peaks

You'll play a key role in maintenance and fitting tasks, supporting production line maintenance and improvement projects while ensuring equipment uptime and performance.
