Job summary

Staffline is recruiting a Contract Electrical Maintenance Engineer to provide hands-on maintenance support in a busy FMCG production and packaging environment in North Yorkshire.

The role focuses on electrical fault diagnosis, maintenance on conveyors and drives, and supporting automated systems to maximise uptime and performance. Monday–Friday day shifts with no nights and some weekend work are typical.

Qualifications

• Strong multi-skilled electrical fault diagnosis.
• Experience with conveyors, motors, drives, sensors and PLCs.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work independently.
• Proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
• Computer-literate with maintenance reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance tasks on production machinery and conveyors.
• Perform planned and reactive maintenance across production equipment.
• Support plant and automated systems including pneumatics, hydraulics, and handling equipment.
• Attend to breakdowns promptly delivering safe, effective repairs.
• Assist in modification and improvement projects on process lines.

Job Type: Contract, 2 months ongoing initially, potential to extend

You’ll play a key role in maintenance and fitting tasks, supporting production line maintenance and improvement projects while ensuring equipment uptime and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Requirements

• Time‑served apprentice or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline


• Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment – ideally with conveyors, motors, drives, etc


• Ability to read engineering drawings and work independently on maintenance or modification projects


• A proactive, problem‑solving approach and commitment to continuous improvement


• Computer‑literate with a good understanding of maintenance reporting systems
