Nexus Careers Group Ltd is recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Engineer for a leading London university. Based at the Whitechapel campus, you’ll oversee an estate of academic, research and teaching buildings within walking distance of each other, with no travel between sites.

This electrically biased role covers PPM and reactive maintenance across building services, delivering a stable day-shift pattern and the security of a permanent position with a well-established employer.

Qualifications

• Essential Level 3 qualification in electrical installation or electrical engineering.
• Desirable 18th Edition and building services or facilities maintenance experience.
• Good fault-finding skills and a proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance across multiple campus buildings.
• Maintaining and fault-finding LV distribution, switchgear, distribution boards and small power.
• Maintaining lighting and lighting controls, including emergency lighting testing.
• Supporting life safety systems such as fire alarms and standby generators.
• Carrying out electrical works on mechanical plant including AHUs, FCUs, pumps and HVAC control panels.
• Using the BMS to monitor plant and diagnose faults and complete job records.

Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Whitechapel, East London (site-based)

Salary: £48,000

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Hours: Days only, Monday to Friday

About the Role

We're recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join the in-house engineering team at a leading London university. You'll be based on their Whitechapel campus, looking after a varied estate of academic, research and teaching buildings, all within a short walk of each other, so no travelling between sites.

This is an electrically biased role covering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works across a wide range of building services systems and plant. It's a great opportunity for an engineer who wants variety, a settled day-shift pattern and the stability of working for a well-established organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance across multiple buildings on the campus
• Maintaining and fault-finding on LV distribution, switchgear, distribution boards and small power
• Maintaining lighting and lighting controls, including emergency lighting testing
• Supporting maintenance of life safety systems such as fire alarms and standby generators
• Carrying out electrical works on mechanical plant including AHUs, FCUs, pumps and HVAC control panels
• Using the BMS to monitor plant and diagnose faults, and completing job records accurately

Requirements

• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Electrical Engineering (essential)
• 18th Edition and building services or facilities maintenance experience (desirable)
