Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking an Electrical Lead to provide electrical design authority across the Thames AMP8 portfolio, delivering a £150M+ capital programme and upgrading major treatment works. You’ll join the Engineering Leadership Team to drive electrical design excellence and mentor engineers.

You will ensure compliance with BS 7671, manage interfaces with PLC/SCADA, and contribute to CDM duties and Safer by Design initiatives.

Qualifications

• High and Low Voltage electrical design authority in water/utilities sector.
• Strong knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition).
• Experience with CDM 2015 designer obligations (Regulation 9).
• Knowledge of Motor Control Centre, RTU design and PLC/SCADA interfaces.
• Full driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Provide discipline authority for electrical design across active Thames Water schemes.
• Sign-off technical output and maintain electrical design standards.
• Coordinate with ICA Lead and manage supply chain outputs.
• Discharge CDM duties and contribute to Safer by Design.
• Mentor engineers and develop competency framework; support DfMA initiatives.

Join us as an Electrical Lead and provide discipline authority for all electrical design across the Kier Thames AMP8 portfolio. You'll be delivering a £150M+ capital portfolio for Thames Water, including major treatment works upgrades. This is an exciting opportunity to develop in-house electrical engineering capability whilst working within our Engineering Leadership Team, providing electrical design authority across every active scheme.

What will you be responsible for?

As an Electrical Lead, you'll be working within the Engineering Leadership Team, supporting them in delivering electrical design excellence across the Thames Water portfolio. Your day to day will include:

• Providing technical sign-off for all electrical design across active schemes and maintaining HV/LV electrical design standards
• Managing electrical supply chain partners' technical output and coordinating with the Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) Lead
• Discharging Construction Design and Management (CDM) duties and contributing to the Safer by Design programme
• Mentoring electrical engineers and developing the electrical engineer competency framework across the portfolio
• Supporting Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) initiatives and attending monthly Design Functional Update governance meetings

You have demonstrable High and Low Voltage electrical design authority in the water and utilities sector

• You possess strong working knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition)
• You have experience of Construction Design and Management (CDM) 2015 designer obligations (Regulation 9)
• You bring knowledge of Motor Control Centre, Remote Terminal Unit design and PLC/SCADA interface systems
• You hold a Full driving licence
