Position: Electrical & Instrumentation Technician
Description:

The Electrical & Instrumentation technician will possess comprehensive electrical and instrumentation knowledge, with experience in troubleshooting and installation. Qualifications in hazardous area working (CompEx) and wiring regulations (17th edition) are preferred. Experience with top tier CoMAH regulations and related health, safety, and environmental legislation is essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies regarding health, safety, and environment.
  • Promote safety culture through good housekeeping, PPE use, near miss reporting, and unsafe situation reporting.
  • Complete routine maintenance, calibration, and testing using CMMS job sheets, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance to maintain plant availability and efficiency.
  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical and instrumentation equipment to high standards.
  • Report and handle equipment defects and alarms, ensuring safety and proper communication.
  • Manage waste disposal in line with legislation.
  • Follow permit to work procedures, ensuring hazards are understood and isolations are made.
  • Support the engineering team with additional tasks like mechanical work or forklift driving as per competencies.
  • Assist in planning plant maintenance for shutdowns.
  • Follow change management procedures, ensuring approvals and assessments are completed before changes.
  • Strive to improve plant operation through maintenance support and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide training or awareness to other engineers or operators.
  • Assist and deputize for the E&I Supervisor as needed.
Role:
  • Ensure all tasks adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in risk assessments.
  • Ensure efficient operation of control equipment and monitor process parameters.
  • Manage electrical maintenance schedules and minimize downtime.
  • Use precautions during electrical work, process break-ins, and isolations, including communication and testing.
  • Experience with controllers, software packages, or PLC logic is advantageous.
  • Manage waste disposal in compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure installations meet standards and perform calibrations as needed.
  • Analyze data to resolve plant issues.
  • Report activities, faults, and alarms promptly.
  • Contribute to departmental performance objectives.
  • Be available for out-of-hours work and weekend shutdowns as required.
  • Undertake training to stay updated on new technologies and safety requirements.
