Job summary

Newbury College is seeking a knowledgeable Electrical Installation Course Leader and Lecturer to join our Construction department. You will teach across full-time learners, adult provision and electrical apprenticeships, supporting learners at different stages of their electrical career within a modern, purpose-built Construction Centre.

The Role focuses on delivering high-quality theory and practical teaching, assessing learner work, and maintaining course records while working with employers

Qualifications

  • A Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • Assessor and Internal Verifier qualifications.
  • Industry experience within Electrical Installation and teaching or training.
  • Willingness to work towards a teaching qualification with college support.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality theoretical and practical teaching across Electrical Installation programmes (Level 2/3 and apprenticeships).
  • Assess learner work and conduct workplace assessments for apprentices.
  • Contribute to internal verification processes and maintain accurate course and learner records.
  • Support learner progress and collaborate with colleagues, employers and support services.

Job description

Newbury College is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Electrical Installation Course Leader and Lecturer to join our Construction department. This role offers the opportunity to teach across full-time learners, adult provision and electrical apprenticeships, supporting learners at different stages of their electrical career within a modern, purpose-built Construction Centre. Our Construction provision focuses on careers, not just courses. We work closely with employers and industry partners to ensure learners develop the technical skills, practical competence and professional behaviours required for employment in the electrical and wider construction industries. Alongside electrical installation, the department also delivers plumbing, carpentry and multi-trade programmes, creating a collaborative and industry-focused environment. The Role: The successful candidate will deliver high-quality theoretical and practical teaching across Electrical Installation programmes, including Level 2 and Level 3 adult courses and apprenticeship provision. Teaching will cover key electrical principles and industry-standard practices, supporting learners from entry level through to advanced technical understanding.

  • Inspection, testing and fault finding
  • Design, environmental legislation and industry compliance

In addition to teaching, the role includes assessing learner work, conducting workplace assessments for apprentices, contributing to internal verification processes and maintaining accurate course and learner records in line with awarding body and college requirements. You will also support learner progress, provide guidance where needed and work closely with colleagues, employers and support services.

Applicants should have strong industry experience and a passion for developing others.

Essential requirements
  • A Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or equivalent
  • Assessor and Internal Verifier qualifications
  • Industry experience within Electrical Installation
  • Experience of teaching or working in an educational or training environment
  • A teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one with college support
  • Experience within further education, adult education or apprenticeship delivery is desirable, along with mentoring or coaching experience
