Job summary

Kier Group is seeking an Electrical ICA Engineer for major Thames Water projects based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. You will conduct LV electrical and ICA commissioning across large water infrastructure, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and external integrators.

The role requires a strong background in PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and Profibus/Modbus networks, with a valid driving license. Some flexibility in hours is offered in a full-time on-site position.

Qualifications

• HNC in Electrical/Electronic or Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in ICA engineering, PLCs, HMIs, Profibus networks and SCADA on large water projects.
• Good knowledge of LV motor control centres and communication protocols (Profibus/Modbus/Ethernet IP).
• Strong team collaboration across disciplines and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Review LV Electrical and ICA docs (schematics, control philosophies) for standards compliance.
• Represent Kier at client meetings; coordinate electrical and ICA activities.
• Conduct fault finding and configuration for MCC and ICA equipment (PLCs, SCADA).
• Oversee installation and commissioning of comms networks; support System Integrators.
• Perform technical reviews of Risk Assessments and Method Statements; approve Inspection and Test Plans.

We're looking for an Electrical ICA Engineer to join our Thames Water Major Projects team based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.

Location: Harpenden, Hertfordshire

We're seeking an Electrical/ICA Engineer to provide LV Electrical, Control & Automation, and PLC & SCADA commissioning expertise for industrial projects within the water industry. As part of Kier's strategic partnership with Thames Water, you'll work on major projects and capital frameworks, delivering design and build services for new and existing infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-focused professional with a demonstrable history of commissioning Electrical ICA works in major projects.

What will you be responsible for?

• Reviewing and providing constructive comments on LV Electrical and ICA documentation, including schematics, control philosophies, and specifications to ensure compliance with water industry standards
• Representing Kier at client meetings and coordinating electrical and ICA activities across projects
• Conducting fault finding and system configuration for MCC and ICA equipment, including PLCs and control panels
• Overseeing installation and commissioning of communication networks and supporting System Integrators in PLC software and SCADA development
• Conducting technical reviews of Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and authorising Inspection and Test Plans to ensure project compliance

What are we looking for?

• You hold an HNC qualification in Electrical/Electronic or Instrumentation Engineering, or a similar discipline
• You have experience in ICA engineering, PLCs, HMIs, Profibus networks and SCADA installations on large-scale water treatment works
• You possess a good knowledge of Low Voltage motor control centres and communications protocols including Profibus, Modbus, and Ethernet IP
• You have strong interpersonal skills and can work effectively as part of a multi-discipline team
• You hold a Full driving licence
