Electrical Highways Engineer
Meridian is working with a leading Transport Engineering company specializing in all aspects of Highways Engineering. They are expanding their team of Service Engineers and are seeking an additional Electrical Highways Engineer. The role will be focused around London and surrounding areas, involving maintenance and installation of Traffic Management equipment in regions such as the M25 South, A1, M11, East London, Dartford, M23, M20, and A3. Responsibilities for this role:
- Perform fault-finding, servicing, repairing, and maintaining static highway technology, including vehicle-mounted Traffic Management equipment and trailers, on customer sites and highways network
- Carry out electrical and mechanical works, including maintenance, remedial work, and data cabling installation
- Complete preventative maintenance and field modifications as needed
- Test and inspect equipment, ensuring accurate documentation of results
- Understand and communicate RAMS, adhering to site rules and policies with a strong focus on Health & Safety
- Manage administrative responsibilities efficiently
- Maintain your work vehicle, keeping it in good condition and stocked with tools and supplies
- Exhibit strong customer service and communication skills
- Effectively liaise with internal teams and management, identifying additional opportunities for products and services
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills required:
- Experience in Electrical Maintenance and Installation, preferably within Traffic Management systems
- Previous Highway Engineering experience is highly desirable
- Experience with technology, data, communications, cabling, wiring, and repair work
- Ability to interpret circuit diagrams and assembly drawings
- Gold JIB Electrician card
- NVQ Level 3 or higher
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Basic knowledge of communication networks, GPRS, Copper & Fibre Optic cabling
- Good interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service skills and professional communication
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification is preferred but not essential
- IPAF certification is preferred but not essential
