Role description:

Our Soils and Sustainable Land Management team is looking for a Soils Consultant to work collaboratively with technical specialists on diverse projects, contributing to Environmental Impact Assessments and working closely with clients.

In our Environmental team, your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise, in some of the world’s busiest and most beautiful locations.

We aim to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations, addressing challenges like climate change, urbanization, biodiversity loss, floods, and wildfires.

Role accountabilities:

• Complete activities meeting budget, timeframes, and quality standards, exceeding client expectations when possible.
• Conduct desk-based and site surveys to develop technical solutions.
• Prepare accurate reports complying with standards and regulations.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, team members, and clients.
• Resolve technical issues and guide team members.
• Collaborate across disciplines to ensure project integrity.
• Review colleagues’ work for quality assurance.
• Maintain and develop technical knowledge of regulations, standards, and industry practices.
• Enhance understanding of Arcadis services, client industries, and industry networks.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Knowledge of soil science and land management principles, with practical application experience.
• Understanding of EIA processes, multi-disciplinary collaboration, and sector experience.
• Experience in soil surveying, knowledge of the Agricultural Land Classification system preferred.
• Membership of the British Society of Soil Science and willingness to pursue chartership.
• Relevant degree or equivalent, with or working towards chartered status.
• Understanding of Arcadis’ financial metrics and their impact on business success.
• Strong research, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
