Job summary

Hoare Lea is seeking an Electrical Engineer or Senior Engineer to deliver high-quality, sustainable electrical design across exciting built-environment projects in Scotland. Join an established Electrical team in Glasgow or Edinburgh, with opportunities to contribute to UK-wide projects and knowledge sharing.

Based in either Glasgow or Edinburgh, you will lead defined elements or whole schemes, mentor junior staff, and engage with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliant, value-driven

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• Working towards or holding IEng/CEng is preferred.
• Strong technical competence in LV distribution, lighting, earthing/protection and emergency/standby systems; able to produce calculations and drawings.
• Proficient with industry software (Revit, AutoCAD, Dialux, OM Electrical) and MS Office.
• Able to work independently: deliver project elements or lead discipline/small projects and larger schemes.
• Effective communicator with experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and liaising with clients/contractors.
• Experience of site checking, witnessing testing/commissioning and reviewing contractor submissions.
• Demonstrable commitment to meeting programmes and quality standards; commercially aware.
• Supportive team player who mentors junior staff and pursues CPD.

Responsibilities

• Take briefs and deliver electrical design work from inception through to completion.
• Produce electrical calculations, drawings and technical documentation that comply with regulations and client standards.
• Ensure quality standards and technical accuracy across deliverables.
• Coordinate electrical design with other disciplines and third‑party consultants.
• Review contractor submissions and ensure site installations meet design intent.
• Attend design team and client meetings; report progress.
• Witness testing and commissioning activities and support handover documentation.
• Manage workload to meet programme deliverables; report to line manager.
• Develop junior staff and foster client relationships.
