Job description

We have a current opportunity for an Electrical Engineer on a contract basis for a 6-12 month project with the possibility of extension upon successful completion. The position is based in East Kilbride within an engineering and construction company.

Responsibilities:

1. Design electrical systems according to IEC standards.
2. Perform lighting calculations using relevant software.
3. Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
4. Ensure electrical designs comply with safety codes and regulations.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical and instrumentation engineers.
6. Provide technical support to tendering and project teams.
7. Review and approve installation drawings and diagrams.
8. Review and validate vendor designs and documentation, including mechanical packages and motors (1kW to 3000kW).
9. Work with staff to ensure cost-effective development and execution of projects.
10. Contribute to the development of processes and procedures to meet contractual requirements safely and efficiently.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
2. 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in industrial or manufacturing settings.
3. Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards (IEC), and safety practices.
4. Proficiency with AutoCAD and other relevant design software.
5. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
6. Ability to work independently and in teams.
7. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
8. Knowledge of designing systems in hazardous areas.
