Role Purpose
Manage electrical equipment related to manufacturing processes, support project engineering for new process developments, and lead the electrical crafts team supported by the Maintenance superintendent.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversee electrical repairs and maintenance activities for all site equipment and facilities, including LV and HV systems.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and company standards regarding Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety requirements.
- Assist in designing, procuring, testing, and commissioning equipment and machinery for the new submarine power cable plant.
- Support electrical maintenance once the plant is operational, including reactive and planned activities.
- Develop and approve electrical maintenance procedures and asset management systems prior to plant operation.
- Allocate electrical craft resources efficiently to maximize plant availability and product quality.
- Lead root cause investigations to eliminate failures.
- Provide technical guidance to electrical technicians and oversee staff performance and development.
- Develop maintenance strategies to maximize efficiency, including corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance.
- Plan, budget, and schedule facility modifications, collaborating closely with colleagues in the UK and Japan.
- Maintain ISO standards and collaborate with external consultants and SMEs for facility-related work.
- Estimate workload resources and timescales, produce uptime/downtime trends, and engineer solutions to known problems.
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Experiences
- Degree in engineering or equivalent experience at an engineering-management level.
- Proven success in a similar role, with significant experience in electrical engineering in heavy industry.
- Experience with electrical major construction projects is advantageous.
- Knowledge of 18th Edition IEE Regulations.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts and PLC programming experience.
- Excellent troubleshooting, planning, and resource management skills.
Other Information
- Position primarily based in Inverness, with some travel, including overseas.
- Later based in Easter Ross during main equipment installation.
- Training and networking opportunities with the Japanese headquarters.
