About the Role

Electrical Engineer
Permanent, Full-time
Hybrid, Inchinnan, Glasgow

About the Company

JFD Global is the world leading underwater capability provider, serving the commercial and defence markets with innovative diving, submarine, hyperbaric rescue, technical solutions, and services.

The Role

To provide engineering design solutions and through-life engineering support to the JFD product range. Workload can vary from designing new products to meet client or internal specifications to supporting existing clients with upgrades or modifications in the field. This role is based at our Inchinnan office on a hybrid basis.

Principal Accountabilities

• Provide engineering design input for new products and support the existing product range by assessing technical queries and offering engineering solutions.
• Coordinate with internal departments such as sales, procurement, and production to ensure optimal technical solutions.
• Sourcing suitable components and materials, creating part numbers, and managing the bill of materials.
• Develop engineering documentation including specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certifications, and reports.
• Review detailed electrical drawings and documentation, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, company processes, and external regulations.
• Ensure engineering solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
• Conduct site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as needed.
• Serve as the technical checker for drawings and documentation related to electrical engineering tasks.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven skills in electrical and electronics design.
• Ability to generate detailed design calculations.
• Proficiency with engineering design software and CAD tools.
• Knowledge of relevant design standards.
• Experience with product design, especially DC systems, is advantageous.
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management systems for managing engineering packages.
• An electrical and electronics engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience working to marine, defence standards, and class society rules (mainly LR and DNV).
• Panel design experience is preferred.
