Job summary

Arup is seeking an Energy Consultant (Electrical) to help deliver electrical infrastructure and power systems for the transition to a low-carbon future. Based in Manchester or Sheffield, you’ll work on grid integration, energy storage, and decarbonisation projects with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• MEng in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Systems.
• Strong fundamentals in Power Systems, Electrical Distribution Networks and Electrical Infrastructure Design.
• Understanding of Power systems and network studies, Grid connection processes and capacity constraints.
• Interest in energy transition, renewables, electrification and low-carbon infrastructure.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical communication skills.
• Desire to work towards Chartered Engineer status and professional membership (e.g. IET).

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical infrastructure and power systems solutions with a focus on grid integration and electrification of energy systems.
• Support technical analyses and modelling of electrical power systems.
• Assist with feasibility studies and early-stage infrastructure design; contribute to HV grid connection studies and network assessments.
• Create technical reports, calculations and engineering deliverables.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver low-carbon energy projects.
• Help clients understand electrical requirements of renewable generation and energy storage.
