Job summary

Arup is seeking an Energy Consultant (Electrical) to help deliver infrastructure and power systems for a low-carbon future. Based in Manchester or Sheffield, you’ll join a multidisciplinary team on projects spanning grid connection, energy storage, heat networks and electrification.

You’ll support analysis and modelling of electrical power systems, assist with feasibility studies and deliver technical reports while developing expertise in grid connections and decarbonisation strategies.

Qualifications

• MEng or equivalent in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Systems.
• Strong fundamentals in Power Systems, Electrical Distribution Networks and Infrastructure Design.
• Experience or understanding of grid connection processes, DNOs/TSOs and network studies.
• Interest in energy transition, renewables, electrification, and decarbonisation strategies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical communication skills.
• Pursuit of Chartered Engineer status (IET) or professional membership.

Responsibilities

• Support development of electrical infrastructure and power systems solutions with emphasis on grid integration.
• Assist with feasibility studies, early-stage infrastructure design and HV grid connection studies.
• Develop technical reports, calculations and engineering deliverables for projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver low-carbon energy schemes.
• Engage with clients to communicate electrical requirements of renewables, storage and decarbonisation plans.
