Job summary

Alstom in Derby is seeking an Electrical Design & Schematics Engineer to design the train’s electrical architecture, cubicle layouts and wiring routes. You will specify electrical apparatus and produce PPS and detailed apparatus specifications to ensure correct implementation throughout the project lifecycle.

You’ll deliver complete electrical deliverables for baselines, manage configurations, and contribute to RoE and subcontractor coordination across a multi-site environment.

Qualifications

• Electrical and/or electrotechnical engineering knowledge is required for the role.
• Experience in electrical component selection and calculations.
• Experience with E3 tool is desirable and beneficial.

Responsibilities

Your future role

As an Electrical Design & Schematics Engineer, you will be responsible for designing the train’s electrical architecture, including cubicle layouts and wiring routes. You will specify electrical apparatus in line with the Preferred Parts List and project requirements, ensuring compliance and functionality. Additionally, you will also be responsible for producing pure principle schemes (PPS) and detailed apparatus specifications to support accurate implementation throughout the project lifecycle.

We’ll look to you for:

• Ensure timely delivery of the complete electrical case or a set of electrical deliverables for each baseline, providing the right product at the right time to the project, including -
  • Apparatus specification
  • Connector coding specification
  • Cubical specification
  • PPS, Solution principle scheme (SPS), Cable principle scheme (CPS)
  • Routing
  • Wiring list
  • Harness case & calculation
  • Electrical architecture at train level
• Managing the configuration of their deliverables
• Managing the S&A QCD of their activities, sub-contracting management (inputs / outputs management)
• Continuous improvement or Return on Experience (RoE) management from previous project
