Job summary

Composite Integration in Saltash, Cornwall, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to shape the electrical design and development of specialist machinery used in closed mould composite manufacturing. You’ll collaborate with global teams, turning concepts into detailed electrical designs and supporting builds and commissioning.

The role blends hands-on engineering with design work, requiring practical knowledge of industrial machinery, control systems and instrumentation.

Qualifications

• Relevant electrical engineering qualification such as a degree, HNC, HND or apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience designing electrical systems for industrial machinery, process equipment or automated equipment.
• Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software.
• Computer literate – Microsoft Office and general database usage.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of electrical design engineering principles.
• Experience working on engineering design projects from concept through to build, testing and production.
• Understanding of industrial control systems, electrical components, sensors and instrumentation.
• A practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Research and create electrical design concepts, schematics, drawings and specifications using appropriate software
• Research and identify solutions for equipment and process project work
• Make recommendations regarding design specifications to ensure equipment and processes match client requirements
• Ensure all drawings are added to the MRP system and new part numbers created as required
• Produce all supporting documentation
• Provide in-house hands-on support with the build, commissioning and testing of equipment
• Support electrical fault-finding and problem-solving during equipment build, testing and commissioning
• Support on-site building, commissioning and testing of equipment
• Provide training to clients’ engineers and operators
• Provide clear, professional and competent support to clients via telephone and email
• Create technical drawings to assist with feasibility and ROM cost quoting for clients
• Provide client support with technical equipment enquiries and product development discussions
• Maintain technical expertise and knowledge of emerging technologies, processes and techniques
