Job summary

Additional Resources Ltd in Saltash is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to help design and develop specialist machinery for the composites manufacturing sector. You will prepare technical drawings, support equipment build, testing and commissioning, and provide practical engineering input across the project lifecycle.

The role requires 2-3 years’ practical design experience, proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, Rhino and 2D AutoCAD, and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' practical design experience in mechanical engineering or similar.
• Proficiency in 3D Autodesk Inventor, Rhino and 2D AutoCAD.
• Experience handling complex engineering design projects from concept to completion.

Responsibilities

• Develop design concepts, technical drawings and specs using design software.
• Research engineering solutions and propose designs to meet project needs.
• Update drawings, create part numbers and maintain records in the MRP system.
• Prepare technical docs and drawings for feasibility and cost estimates.
• Support assembly, fault finding, testing and commissioning at premises.
• Assist with equipment build, testing and commissioning at customer sites.
• Provide technical training to customers' engineers and operators.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an engineering business specialising in the development of machinery and equipment for the composites manufacturing industry.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be involved in designing and developing specialist machinery, preparing technical drawings and providing practical engineering support throughout equipment build, testing and commissioning.

This full-time, permanent position is based in Saltash and offers a salary of £35,000-£40,000, depending on experience, together with a range of benefits.

You should live within reasonable commuting distance of the Saltash facility and be prepared to travel within the UK and internationally when required.

Previous experience in the composites industry is not essential, as training will be provided on the relevant technology and processes.

You will be responsible for:

• Developing design concepts, technical drawings and specifications using relevant design software.
• Researching engineering solutions and recommending designs to meet project and customer requirements.
• Updating technical drawings, creating part numbers and maintaining drawing records within the MRP system.
• Preparing technical documentation and drawings for feasibility assessments and preliminary cost estimates.
• Supporting equipment assembly, fault-finding, testing and commissioning at the companys premises.
• Assisting with equipment building, testing and commissioning at customer sites.
• Providing technical training to customers engineers and operators, responding to technical enquiries and supporting product development discussions.
• Performing other duties as required.
