Job summary

James Fisher and Sons plc is seeking an Electrical Engineer to provide design solutions across the JFD product range. The role involves creating and checking electrical drawings, coordinating with sales, procurement and production, and supporting field upgrades or changes.

Applicants should have an electrical and electronics engineering degree or equivalent experience, with strong CAD/PLM skills and familiarity with marine/defence standards.

Qualifications

• Electrical and electronics design experience with the ability to generate engineering solutions.
• Experience in creating and checking engineering documentation and specs.
• Familiarity with marine and defence standards (LR/DNV) and class society rules.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering design input for new products and support existing ranges.
• Collaborate with sales, procurement and production to deliver optimal solutions.
• Source components, create part numbers and bill of materials.
• Create specifications, assembly instructions, test procedures and reports.
• Check electrical drawings for compliance with standards and budgets.
• Ensure timely delivery of engineering solutions within scope and cost.
• Travel to other JFD offices and client assets as required.
• Act as technical checker of drawings and documentation.
