Job summary

James Fisher Defence (JFD) is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer in Glasgow to lead development of innovative electro-mechanical solutions across our product portfolio. You will design new products to meet customer and business needs and provide through-life engineering support for deployed equipment, including upgrades and modifications in safety-focused settings.

The role requires strong fault-finding, DC systems expertise, and experience in subsea or naval defence projects.

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience in design and manufacture of power, control and instrumentation systems, especially DC.
Experience producing and maintaining engineering documentation and drawings.
Ability to collaborate with software, controls, electronics and mechanical engineers.
Familiarity with PLM systems and CE compliance requirements.
Experience in an Electrical Project Engineer or similar role.

Responsibilities

Provide engineering design support for new products and existing systems, resolving queries and implementing improvements.
Collaborate with sales, supply chain and production teams to deliver technical solutions.
Represent JFD in design reviews, audits and acceptance testing.
Prepare and review engineering documentation and manufacturing drawings.
Ensure activities are delivered on time and within budget per standards and procedures.
Act as technical approver for engineering drawings and documentation.
Mentor and support junior engineers with coaching and guidance.
