Job summary

James Fisher Defence (JFD), part of the James Fisher Group, seeks engineers with a solid grounding in defence maritime engineering. You will contribute to design, development and operation of advanced dive systems and naval technologies within a proactive project team.

The role requires knowledge of UK Defence Standards and hands-on diving/maritime experience, with pathways for career development and a collaborative, high‑performing culture.

Qualifications

• Understanding of general engineering principles.
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with PLM systems for engineering documentation.
• Knowledge of UK Defence Standards.
• Knowledge and experience of commercial and military diving and dive systems.
• Naval system design or operation experience.
• Early finish on Fridays.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to meet objectives and improve profitability in project delivery.
• Regularly communicate engineering updates to stakeholders.
• Assist in preparation of proposals, timeframes, schedules and budgets; prepare reports for metrics.
• Monitor obsolescence issues and manage obsolescence processes.
• Monitor Technical Queries and manage the Technical Query process.
• Ensure technical database is correctly configured.
• Support the Quality Supplier Management System.
• Ensure compliance with defence and industry standards.
