Job summary

Elastic is recruiting a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for a central London building services consultancy. The role offers hybrid working and will manage electrical design across healthcare, education, residential, commercial and low-carbon projects.

The candidate will lead on HV/LV systems, develop calculations, liaise with clients, and mentor junior engineers, with a focus on technical excellence and sustainability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' electrical building services design experience
• Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical/Building Services Engineering or related
• Strong knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems
• Experience delivering electrical designs through multiple project stages
• Experience with Amtech, Revit and Relux/Dialux
• Understanding of UK Building Regulations and relevant standards
• Knowledge of renewables and embedded generation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Building Services

Location: London

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

Working Arrangement: Hybrid Working

I am recruiting for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a well-established and growing Building Services and Low Carbon Engineering Consultancy in central London. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Building Services Engineer looking to take greater ownership of projects, work directly with clients and progress their career within a technically strong and collaborative engineering consultancy.

The successful candidate will work across a diverse portfolio of projects including healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, public sector and low-carbon/net-zero developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical engineering design on selected projects
• Produce and review electrical calculations, specifications and drawings
• Work across projects from inception and initial design through to completion
• Attend senior-level project and design team meetings
• Present designs and technical information directly to clients
• Support and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
• Design HV/LV systems and wider electrical building services
• Support the integration of renewable technologies and embedded generation
• Work collaboratively alongside mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Help maintain and improve technical standards across the engineering team
• Deliver projects to agreed timescales and technical standards

Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A minimum of 5 years' Electrical Building Services design experience
• Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong knowledge and understanding of HV/LV electrical systems
• Experience delivering electrical designs through multiple project stages
• Experience using Amtech, Revit and Relux/Dialux
• Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant British and European Standards
• Understanding of renewable technologies and embedded generation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Confidence working directly with clients and other project stakeholders
• Professional membership of CIBSE or IET and Chartered status, or working towards Chartership, would be advantageous
• Experience or knowledge of BREEAM, HTMs and low-carbon building design would also be beneficial
