Glasswell and Last Ltd is a long-established Electrical and Mechanical contractor.

We are seeking Electrical Designers & Electrical CAD Technicians to join our in-house team. The role involves carrying out surveys and subsequent design work in collaboration with our partners in the water industry.

This position is based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, with travel to various sites around East Anglia and further afield required.

As an Electrical Designer, your responsibilities will include:

• Thermographic Surveys
• Creating system architectural diagrams
• Designing site layout drawings
• Preparing Bill of Materials and quotations
• Developing control panel drawings

Required Experience:

• Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients, subcontractors, and team members
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Experience in designing electrical services
• Knowledge of BS7671 and other UK electrical standards
• High proficiency in written and spoken English
• Full UK driving license

Additional advantageous experience:

• HNC/HND or degree in building services, electrical engineering, or related field, or substantial site experience
• Process and instrumentation experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Visio, Projects, DIALux, Eplan, and Amtech software
• Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical for 2D drawings
• Previous utility sector experience

As an Electrical CAD Technician, your responsibilities will include:

• Producing accurate drawings, as-built documentation, and other design outputs such as bills of quantities and datasheets
• Managing documents within a BIM environment, including uploading and revision tracking
• Collaborating with project management for cost development
• Communicating with installation teams to clarify technical details and incorporate feedback

Required Experience:

• Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and other common software
• Full UK driving license and own vehicle (mileage reimbursed)

Additional advantageous experience:

• Ability to create 3D models using Autodesk Inventor
• Recognized apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in electrical disciplines
• Degrees or certifications in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
