Job summary

Rolls-Royce in the UK is recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer to join the Measurement & Test Engineering team. The role covers designing electrical systems for ground-based test facilities and engine test rigs, with involvement from concept through to detailed design.

You will collaborate with Derby-based teams, with opportunities to work across Bristol and other UK sites, in a hybrid setup requiring at least three days in the office, and you will deliver compliant, safe test facilities and

Electrical Design Engineer - Full Time - Derby/Bristol - Hybrid (minimum 3 day/week office based - Derby)

What you will be doing

Rolls-Royce Measurement & Test Engineering organisation are recruiting Electrical Design Engineers to support them in expanding, improving, and maintaining their global portfolio of Aerospace Engine and Rig Test Facilities. The Rolls-Royce Measurement & Test Engineering organisation are responsible for designing and delivering the infrastructure required to test the next generation of gas turbine engines for both Civil and Defence applications.

In this role you will be working with colleagues locally in Derby, and opportunities also exist to work more widely within the UK (Bristol, Solihull) as well as internationally. The workload can be varied, and you will work on a wide range of projects; from developing the next generation of cutting-edge ground-based test facility designs, through to modification of existing flying testbeds and design of new test rigs as well as ensuring the existing Rolls‑Royce test portfolio is kept up to date.

Your role will include:

Minimum degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification with suitable experience in an Electrical Design role in Electrical Engineering.

Experience/understanding of any of the following would be advantageous, but not essential:

• Familiarity with British and Standards and Others (BS, EN, ISO Standards)
• Electrical Low Voltage design (BS7671)
• Control and Instrumentation (C&I) design (BS6739)
• Functional Safety (IEC 61508 and IEC 61511)
• ATEX (IEC 60079)
• CEng or IEng (or working towards)
• Membership of a Professional Engineering Institution
• Electrical design software (such as Amtech ProDesign and EPlan Electrical)
• Experience with Siemens NX / Teamcenter
