Rolls-Royce is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the Measurement & Test Engineering portfolio for aerospace engine test facilities. The role spans Derby and Bristol with hybrid working and UK-wide opportunities.

You will develop electrical designs, write specifications, and oversee testing and installation across challenging test environments. You will collaborate with the product definition and CAD teams, perform design reviews, and ensure compliance with safety and industry

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with experience in electrical design.
  • Experience delivering engineering reports and documents.
  • Experience developing, testing and evaluating electrical designs.
  • Strong planning, teamwork and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Capture requirements and write specifications.
  • Develop electrical designs and calculations.
  • Translate requirements into concepts and full detailed designs.
  • Oversee manufacture, installation, inspection and testing of designs.
  • Support design reviews and peer reviews; conduct verification activities.

Job DescriptionElectrical Design EngineerFull TimeDerby/Bristol – Hybrid (min 3 day/week office based - Derby)What you will be doingRolls-Royce Measurement & Test Engineering organisation are recruiting Electrical Design Engineers to support them in expanding, improving, and maintaining their global portfolio of Aerospace Engine and Rig Test FacilitiesThe Rolls-Royce Measurement & Test Engineering organisation are responsible for designing and delivering the infrastructure required to test the next generation of gas turbine engines for both Civil and Defence applications.Responsibilities:You will be working for the Rolls-Royce Technical Authority for Aerospace Engine Test Facilities. In this role you will be working with colleagues locally in Derby, and opportunities also exist to work more widely within the UK (Bristol, Solihull) as well as internationally.The workload can be varied, and you will work on a wide range of projects; from developing the next generation of cutting-edge ground-based test facility designs, through to modification of existing flying testbeds and design of new test rigs as well as ensuring the existing Rolls-Royce test portfolio is kept up to date.Your role will include:Capturing requirements.Specification and report writing.Developing electrical engineering designs and calculations.Developing requirements into concepts through to full detailed design.Oversight of the manufacture, installation, inspection and testing of designs.Working with our product definition engineering team (detailing / CAD department).Provide a technical design monitoring / oversight role.Chair / support design reviews.Peer to peer review and approvals.Developing verification schedules.Supporting acceptance testing procedures.Delivering test facilities which are safe in operation and during ongoing maintenance.Legislative compliance design monitoring oversight.Why Rolls-Royce?As a member of our team, you will be working on projects delivering testbed capability to realise Rolls-Royce’s strategic goals to “power, protect and connect the modern world” by designing, building, and maintaining systems which are vital to power.
