Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Bristol is seeking an Electrical Engineer for the NautIQ Solutions UK team. The role focuses on design, delivery and optimisation of bespoke electrical power systems for naval and commercial marine customers, with hybrid working and 3 days per week in the office.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineers, develop power distribution schemes, author technical docs and participate in reviews. Security clearance will be required, and UK nationality is essential.

Qualifications

  • Be educated to degree level or equivalent in the electrical field.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC power distribution systems and components.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimise bespoke electrical power systems to meet customer requirements.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary engineers to ensure a holistic design process.
  • Present technical information and design specifications during reviews.
  • Support manufacture and testing of electrical products through to delivery.
  • Occasionally travel to Rolls-Royce, customer and supplier sites.
  • Author technical documentation, reports and schematics.

We have an exciting new opportunity within the E24S group for an Electrical Engineer. As the Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery and design of electrical power systems.

This role is part of NautIQ Solutions team, they will be working closely with other engineering disciplines to design Low Voltage Power Distribution Systems and Equipment for Naval applications E24S is a global team operating in the UK and US.

This role will be focused on the NautIQ Solutions UK team located in Bristol.

You will be responsible for delivering electrical systems to our Naval and Commercial Marine customers.

Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.

As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, for a minimum of three days per week.

What you will be doing:

You will be responsible for the design and optimisation of bespoke electrical power systems to meet customer's requirements; you will: Design, develop and verify Power Distribution Systems and Equipment, to meet specialist, highly demanding technical specifications. Liaise with a spectrum of multidisciplinary engineers to ensure a holistic design process. Present technical information and design specifications as part of the design review process. Support the manufacture and testing of electrical products through to delivery. Represent the Project/Company to customers, suppliers, and operators as necessary, with the occasional requirement to travel to locations to RR, customer, and supplier sites. Authoring technical documentation, reports, schedules, schematics etc.

Specifically, an Electrical Engineer must: Be educated to degree level or equivalent in the electrical field with experience in electrical design techniques. Possess knowledge of both AC and DC electrical power distribution systems, their components, and sub-assemblies. Be able to proactively identify issues and independently apply problem solving techniques to manage them through to resolution whilst considering all requirements, whether functional, regulatory or safety related. Have excellent communication/influencing skills, being able to clearly and effectively articulate ideas, plans and priorities to engineers of other disciplines. Be able to work both individually and as part of a team to meet project deadlines.

It would be advantageous if you: Possess a sound working knowledge of marine and electrical standards and regulations, such as Class Society rules, IEC61439 and Def Stans. Are professionally registered as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or be working towards gaining a professional status. Have experience in design software such as AutoCAD electrical to generate electrical schematics.

To apply for this role, you must be able to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work.
